One for the diary.
One came back from Bangkok only 10 days ago, but it seems like 10 years doesn’t it? Sigh… life moves, rather whizzes by so quickly. (And yet so slowly.. but we’ll leave that analysis for another day) So anyways, one isnt inclined to do a full-blown travelogue for the Bangkok weekend, because firstly, one has been there before, and secondly, one wasn’t really exploring the city but rather just going with the flow and enjoying it. But still, one feels compelled to draw a list of must-do(s) just for diarising purposes.
One must…
- take a boat ride down the Chao Phraya river and buy food or beer from the floating boat-shops on the way
- climb to the top of Wat Arun and see the old city and breathe the calm buddhist air
- marvel at the gold-ness of the Reclining Buddha at Wat Po
- walk around the Chatuchak weekend market and enjoy the chaos even if one doesn’t want to shop
- drink lots of spicy tom-yam soup and eat lots of thai food
- party like crazy at the Bed and Supper Club with loads of expats and locals
- sleep (though I gave it a miss!)
- visit the Jim Thompson House Museum and shop for thai silk
- get a relaxing thai massage (with or without the happy ending, that is)
- sit at the bar on the 64th floor of Bayoke Sky Tower and enjoy the bird’s eye view of the city
- relax with a drink at the very beautiful, very romantic and very decadent ‘Sirocco’ at the Dome on Lebua State Tower
- catch the flight back home (though I *almost* gave that a miss as well… oh well)
Ahem, quite a punch to pack in 2 days, wouldn’t you agree?
